Crebilly - 1862 vs 2014

I thought it would be fun to compare the map of Crebilly from the Griffith's Valuation that was done circa 1862 and the satellite map from Google.

We know that a James Kane lived in Crebilly during the valuations and rented from H. H. O'Hara. We also know that a James Kane died in Craigbilly (Crebilly) in 1872. With only a ten year span, we are pretty sure that it is the same James. Also, remember, Annie's father, James, was deceased when she married in 1876 so as far as we are concerned...it all fits in.

The unfortunate thing is that the numbering of farm lots were not completed for Crebilly in the Griffith's Valuation so we do not know the specific area that James and his family lived in. You can go here to check out Griffith's Valuation for free! :)

Griffith's Valuation Map of Crebilly. You can see an modern map slightly under it.
Google map of Crebilly are. 'A' arrow is pointing to Crebilly Rd for reference. Looks like the farm lands are very close to what they were 150 years ago.

I used "Snipping Tool" to capture these images from the web, a feature that can be found in Windows 7 and 8.
