First child born to Annie O'Keane and Stephen John Glumaz, SJ (as he was known) was born in Crebilly, Ballymena, 27 Apr 1877. Martha O'Kane was present at and the informant of this SJ's birth. We think that Martha may be a sister of Annie's. |
Second child, Ellen, was born in Ballymena, on High Street July 5, 1879. Annie registered the birth. This birth record was found in the Family History Library (FHL) microfilm #256032 v 1-1 p 88. Ellen would take the name "Keane" as a middle name for her documents. |
Third child, James Joseph was born in Crebilly like his older brother, SJ, Dec 4, 1883. It appears that the preferred way for the clerk to spell Annie's surname in Ballymena is "O'Kane" without an 'e' between the K and a. In this document, we have Annie's signature. Stephen John is said to be stationed at Belfast at time of birth. |
James Joseph's baptism record from rootsireland.ie.
From this document we have two more names associated with the family.
Alexander Dillon and Mary Keane. It is possible that Mary could be
Annie's mother. |
In July 1885, Annie and her three children land in NY. Her husband, Stephen John, is already stateside, having landed in Lousiana in 1884, according to his naturalization papers. From Ancestry.com, can be also found in Familysearch. |
Fourth child, Ann Winifred, was born in San Antonio, Texas on 2 Jun 1886. Record found in FHL microfilm #25467
item 2 p 25. This registered was written in both English and Latin depending on which priest recorded information. Penmanship for English was easy to read, not so for the Latin. Basically it says, that Ann was baptized on 29 June and born on 2 June. Her parents' names are barely legible and have no clue who her sponser was, perhaps, Marjorda Bridy or Budy??? |
Last child, Francis Benaventura was also born in San Antonio, TX. Baptism registers for Francis and his sister, Ann, were from St Mary's Catholic Church in San Antonio. This baptismal record states the Francis was baptized on 27 Jan 1889 and born on 2 Jan. His sponsers were Alexander Notzon and Margaritta Chavez. Record from FHL. |
Death record for Joseph (James Joseph) and Benaventura (Francis Benaventura) combined into one. Record from St Mary's. James Joseph would have been 5 years and Francis Benaventura just 3 days shy of 5 months. Date of death given as May 30. In 1900 US Census for San Antonio, TX, Annie's states that she had 5 children and that 3 are living. Record from FHL. |
Death certificate for Stephen John Glumaz, Dec 1923. Record from fold3.com. Annie is the informant for her husband's death. |
Annie would pass away 6 months after her husband in San Antonio, too. Her death record can be found
