In his will, James requests that his wife, Mary, live in the manner she was accustomed to. So she stayed in Property #7 and ran the household as she always did.
In the 2nd report it makes mention that it was unusual for a deceased person's name to continue to be listed on the Tenancy for the property. Then it clicked for me.....James' name continued on because Mary was still alive. The name changed to 'Reps for James Kane' after she was gone.
I knew this time frame worked because of the Glumaz history written by Jame's great granddaughter, Elaine Glumaz. She writes that after Annie's mother died, Annie wanted to move to America. Documents showed that Annie and her kids left in 1885, with her husband, Stephen John, leaving the year before. So if Annie left in 1885 and there was a name change in the tenancy for property # 7 in 1882, Mary Kane must have passed away between the time period of 1882 to 1885.
Groni recently put online the opportunity to view vital records online. You need to have at least 1 credit to view results and it cost 5 credits to view the actual record. You cannot download the image so I used the snipping tool available on my Windows 7 to 'snip' and save the image from my computer.
I put in Mary's name with Kane and O'Kane and a time frame of 1881 to 1885, and found her. The exciting thing is that we have another family member verified and a death date for Mary, 20 Apr 1882. This also gives her an approximate birth year of 1812.
