We would like to note that there are many variations on the spelling of the surname O'Kane - O'Keane, Kane, Keane, Kaine, Cane etc.
We know from Annie's marriage notice in a Liverpool newspaper that her father came from Craigbilly, also known as Crebilly. Her son Stephen's birth registration indicates that the family was living on Crebilly. Marina obtained a copy of the birth from the General Register Office Northern Ireland (GRONI).
Our hope is that through this blog, we can spark some interest to those with roots in the O'Kane family; to be able to fill in and expand the family tree. By pooling our resources, knowledge, and ideas we may be able to smooth out some snags, level out a few bumps and knock down a road block or two in our family history journey.
Wedding announcement was located in the Liverpool Mercury newspaper, 1876, which was found on the paid subscription site The British Newspaper Archive . |
